Managed Backup

Managed backup for companies: your backup now reports back

For companies with Windows or Linux servers that need an off-site copy and a WhatsApp alert after every backup.

Dalth’s managed backup copies the data on your company’s Windows and Linux servers to Dalth’s private cloud, away from your office, at the times you agree on. When each backup finishes, the result is posted on WhatsApp, in the company group you choose, and Dalth’s team follows every copy. Your backup now tells you how it went.

Who managed backup is for

It makes sense when your company is in one of these situations:

  • There is a backup routine, but nobody checks whether it ran. When it fails, it fails silently.
  • The backup disk has filled up, a password was changed or a service stopped, and nobody noticed until a file had to be restored.
  • The copies sit in the same office as the server, on an external drive or another device in the same room. A fire, a theft or an on-site attack takes both at once.
  • You run both Windows and Linux servers and want a single service to protect all of them.
  • Management wants to know whether the company’s data was copied, without logging into any system.

What managed backup includes

  • Backup agent installation and setup: Dalth installs and configures the agent on your Windows and Linux servers, on an enterprise-grade backup platform.
  • Backups at agreed times: copies run on the schedule set with you, without getting in the way of the workday.
  • Off-site copy: your data is kept in Dalth’s private cloud, away from the original server, protected from fire, theft or an on-site attack.
  • Standard retention: daily copies kept for 30 days and one full monthly copy kept for 45 days.
  • WhatsApp alert after every backup: in the company group you choose, with the result, what was copied, how much was copied and the start and end times.
  • Monitoring by Dalth’s team: every result is followed up, and the team is alerted if a backup does not run.
  • Billing per gigabyte stored: you only pay for what you use.

How managed backup works

  1. Assessment and quote: we map which servers go into the backup, the data volume and the best times for the copies, with no commitment.
  2. Agent installation: the backup agent is installed on the server and runs at the agreed time.
  3. Copy to Dalth’s private cloud: the data travels over the internet to Dalth’s private cloud, away from your office.
  4. Result check: when the job finishes, the system checks the result of each backup: success, success with warnings or failure.
  5. Alert and follow-up: the summary reaches the WhatsApp group you chose, with what was copied, how much, start and end. Dalth’s team sees the same results and is alerted if a backup does not run.

Managed backup FAQ

Does it work with Windows and Linux servers?

Yes. The platform is cross-platform and covers Windows and Linux servers with the same service and the same kind of alert.

Where are the copies stored?

In Dalth’s private cloud, outside your office. That way, an on-site problem such as a fire, a theft or an attack does not hit the server and the backup at the same time.

What does the WhatsApp alert show? What if a backup does not run?

The alert shows the result (success, success with warnings or failure), what was copied, how much was copied and the start and end times. If a backup does not run, Dalth’s team is alerted.

How long are copies kept?

With standard retention, daily copies are kept for 30 days and the full monthly copy for 45 days. You can go back to a version from days ago, not just the latest one.

Does managed backup help with LGPD, Brazil’s data protection law?

LGPD requires security measures that protect personal data against loss and destruction, among other situations. An off-site copy with defined retention and a result checked after every backup is one of those measures.

How much does managed backup cost?

Billing is per gigabyte stored: you only pay for what you use. The amount depends on your data volume and the servers covered. Request a no-commitment assessment and quote through Dalth’s contact page or on WhatsApp at +55 11 98245-1969.
